My time in Daisy Hill Hospital began in the Emergency Department after I was brought in by ambulance. The ambulance crew were absolutely perfect. In A&E I was seen to straight away. The staff were all rushed and under immense pressure but they were still good nonetheless.
I was then moved onto the Female Medical Ward where it has been absolutely perfect. I really cannot fault any doctor, nurse or cleaner - they have all been exceptional. The staff really have such upbeat attitudes - not one of them is doom and gloom. They really do lift your mood and cannot do enough for you. They always explain everything that needs to be done very well.
With regards to the food, it is a bit bland and repetitive - but it is what it is in hospital. I think that more "snacks" could be introduced onto the menu - such as salads and sandwiches - as two big meals in a day can be a bit much. The ward and toilets are always kept spotless and they are always sanitising round your station.
The only thing I could say about improvement would be that when the strike was on the nurses on the ward were severely under pressure. You really noticed the difference in the level of care but the staff still did all they could for you - there just wasn't time for the usual cup of tea or things like that. I understand it was important that the staff had to go on strike however.
"Staff have such upbeat personalities"
