"Disappointed with the amount of physio he was offered"

About: Bellfield Centre

(as a relative),

My husband was transferred to the Bellfield Centre in Stirling from Forth Valley Royal Hospital following his stroke. All the staff who were to be involved in his care introduced themselves to us and they clearly explained their role in his rehab. They were very friendly and helpful. The portrayal of the Bellfield given by FVRH was that it would provide him with more intense and more frequent physio. It was to be a good step up in his recovery and rehab from his stroke.  However this proved not to be the case. My husband was very disappointed with the amount of physio he was offered.

Some days he only received 30 mins of physio and for the rest of the day he was sitting in his room. My husband and I asked if he could have extra sessions and they seemed to agree to this, however he never received them. He felt that in fact he’d had more physio at FVRH. The difference in physio regimes between physios was very apparent, very quickly. After some of his sessions he felt very discouraged and negative.

The auxiliary nurses were extremely helpful and kind and really took the time to check that he had everything he needed. The facility itself is excellent with a very calm environment and the rooms are very comfortable. But the physio provided at the Bellfield, for my husband, was a huge let down especially as it is meant to be a dedicated unit for assessment and rehab.
