"Disabled parking and chemist opening times for chemo suite"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Oncology

(as a service user),

Boston Hospital. Disabled parking is half a mile there and back from the chemo suite. Needs to be nearer.

Pharmacy for chemo does not open until after 9:30, and yet treatment in the suite can start at 7:30, meaning a wait for your drugs to take away and go home.

Other than that, I have been very happy with my time and treatment at boston chemo. The staff do a tremendous job for people who are at the lowest ebb.

Keep up the great work x

Dear yellowcd85

Thank you for your kind comments regarding the chemotherapy suite and your time spent on the unit. We will ensure these are passed onto the nursing and administrative teams.

Kind regards

Vicky

Dear yellowcd85

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback.

I apologise that you experienced having to wait for the pharmacy to open after your morning chemotherapy appointment. I presume this is regarding the outpatient pharmacy and your ‘take home’ medications rather than those supplied within the chemotherapy suite.

Several clinics operate outside of outpatient pharmacy opening hours, but we try to minimise the impact this has on patients. For example, the chemotherapy suite opens at 8:00 and will book patients from 8:30 for simple procedures that do not require pharmacy input or discharge medications. They will always try to schedule treatments that require pharmacy input for later appointments to avoid patients having to wait for the pharmacy to open.

The outpatient pharmacy opens from 9:00 Monday to Saturday and has a dedicated chemotherapy pharmacist to reduce patient wait times.

I would be happy to discuss this further if you have more questions or feedback.

Kind regards,

Joe
