"Caring, helpful and knowledgeable staff"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Cardiology Ninewells Hospital / Clinical Investigation Unit Scottish Ambulance Service

(as other),

My partner took ill, and it transpired he was having a heart attack. The 999 caller I spoke with was calm, reassuring and really helpful. I can't praise the paramedics who arrived around 20 minutes later (Dionne and Craig) enough. They worked quickly, expertly and sensitively and explained exactly what was likely to happen throughout to us both. They made sure we arrived at Ninewells as soon as possible and facilitated a smooth handover to the waiting cardiac team. They later came back to further update me as I waited for news, which was much appreciated.

My partner has since told me that his experience with the emergency team who identified and rectified the blockage and fitted the stent was all positive. CCU nightshift staff (Gemma and Orla ?) were extremely caring & supportive from our perspective, answering our many questions sensitively and factually and allowing me to stay over. And supplying tea! Day shift staff (I can only recall Nicole ?) were also supportive.

Ward 1 (I think) was very very busy in comparison, and we felt my partner was well looked after by all staff. Staff never seem not busy during their shifts and were impressive to us both. Finally, the move to CIU for his final night in hospital. Kerry was really caring and helpful and, again, knowledgeable and able to answer most of our many questions. I'm afraid I can't recall the name of the male staff member who we also found super supportive.

Once home, we had a medication query and Kerry and her staff were able and willing to answer our query via telephone. We had a bit of a wait for medical staff to speak to us pre-discharge; however, overall, we're very grateful to all staff involved in my partner's care.

Trying to park at Ninewells (out with the weekends) was the one area that added some stress to the whole experience.

Dear Sussc44

Thank you for taking the time to provide our service with such lovely feedback. We always strive to provide the best of care & your email help us know we are going in the right direction.

In the most difficult & scary of times it is good to know you were provided with the right information, communication & assurance from all of our teams & I will ensure they are all aware of this.

I do hope your partner continues to improve & get over his recent "visit".

Again thank you for feedback

Parking is an ongoing issue under discussion & I will raise that within my care group.

Kind regards

Christine
