A few days ago I suspected I had had a stroke. Dialled 111, advised to phone 999 immediately. Ambulance arrived in less than 10 minutes. Ambulance crew so calm, kind and professional. Taken to Hairmyres Hospital, East Kilbride.
In 3 days went from Emergency dept to ward 3 and finally stroke ward 6. Had a barrage of tests during this time including MRI scan of head, chest x-ray, contrast CT scan of neck and echo scan of heart among others. I was also given a full OT assessment and a lengthy, detailed, explanatory conversation with Mr Ibrahim of the stroke team. I cannot begin to describe how well treated I was by every member of staff from nursing staff, doctors, porters, cleaners, caterers. I was discharged with heart monitoring fitted.
Overall impression was not only of professionalism and kindness, but also of the apparently seamless coordination of the multitude of tests and consultations. Wow.
"Excellent care all round from NHS staff"
