I was recently an inpatient under the care of the fantastic Mr Alwahid, Consultant surgeon, for removal of my large bowel and have my permanant ileostomy created, after a colorectal tumour was found during a routine surveillance colonoscopy last October. I have been blown away by the diligence, speed, skill and quality of my care during all of this, especially from Mr Alwahid, his team, Dr Chee anesthesiologist and theatre staff, the HDU staff, ward H South staff, stoma nurse Immogen, special cancer nurse Lesley Anne, physiotherapists, phlebotomist s domestics, and volunteer lady!
I am struggling to find the words to express my gratitude and thanks to every single one of these wonderful people who have helped me through this difficult time, having just lost my husband of 43 years to cancer in August, and having eye surgery in November for cataracts, and the other in the diary so that I can finally see properly. Opthalmology team at IRH are also second to none, and I cannot thank them enough either. I would never want to go anywhere else for treatment while Mr Alwahid and all the other fabulous staff, continue to work to look after our health in IRH.
This surgeon and his colleagues have given me the opportunity to hopefully begin a new life with my family and grandchildren now and see them growing up. That is priceless! Hero's in every sense of the word. Inverclyde you should be extremely proud of your wonderful hospital and the people within it's walls!!
Thank you.
