Recently I had a cyst and fallopian tube surgically removed at QEUH and the whole process went so smoothly. I am incredibly grateful that I was fitted in at all, and everyone I met was calm attentive despite the strain the hospital is under right now.
Dr Powell knew that even though my life wasn’t in danger, this operation was incredibly important for my quality of life, and prioritised helping me as soon as possible. I am so glad she was the one in charge of my procedure. I hope she knows she has given me a great gift as I can now look after my son and plan trips with my family without fear of another pain episode. I am grateful beyond words for the peace of mind she has given me.
Before the operation I was a little nervous as I had never been under general anaesthesia before but the anaesthesiologist and nurse who were with me while the drugs were being administered were both wonderful. The anaesthesiologist in particular was very calm and professional which I found reassuring, and the nurse chatted away to distract me. She knew all the right things to say to stop me worrying too much. While recovering in ward 49, I was given a breast pump which was greatly appreciated. I was able to pump and dispose of excess milk in the privacy of my own room, which made the whole experience so much nicer. All the staff on the ward were brilliant and seemed like warm, caring people. Tami in particular was so friendly and made me feel at home. I was only there for a few hours but I honestly could not have asked for a better nurse, she was lovely.
