Following a visit to the GP, I was referred to the breast clinic at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. Within two hours of the GP visit outpatients called to offer me an appointment 4 working days later.
At a time where our NHS is under extreme pressure I was surprised at how quick I would be seen. Having been worrying about the complaint over Christmas and new year at least I knew I didn’t have much longer to wait which was very reassuring.
At the time of my appointment, I was reviewed by the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP), a lovely nursing assistant was present, both women were friendly, warm and welcoming.
The ANP was fantastic. I was understandably anxious, her manner and confidence in her skill set during examination put me at ease. She listened to me and took the time to discuss my complaint and the plan going forward.
After a reassuring ultrasound, I was left with some questions and called outpatients to ask if I could speak to the ANP again. I was called the next day.
I want to thank the ANP and all the staff in out patients at FVRH who showed care and compassion at a time when I felt vulnerable.
It’s easy to get caught up in the demands and pressure put upon all services in the current climate. I cannot complain about the service I received and the professionalism of the staff who dealt with me. Sometimes it’s nice to hear how appreciated you really are and I can tell you, you are appreciated.
