"Our stay in Clark Clinic"

About: Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick children / Clark Clinic

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was born in Dublin and was transferred back to Clark Clinic after his surgery. He spent 2 weeks there in recovery and we got trained by the amazing nurses on how to feed him using his tube and pump and how to monitor his oxygen levels when we got home, and then we finally got to take him home.

My son was then admitted back to Clark Clinic after being sick on and off for 5 weeks, and he then spent nearly 4 months on Clark Clinic. My son had the most amazing team looking after him, between the nurses, support carers and doctors. They became our family for those months, supported us through my son getting sick with viruses and being away from his siblings for so long, they even organised that we could bring his brothers and sister up for the day to spent some time with him in the family room.

Clark Clinic became home to us and we loved every minute of being there, even though it meant we spent a lot of time in hospital. My son finally got discharged, but that didn't end our visits, as we have been on Clark Clinic quite regularly, and my son was admitted back to the ward and is living on the ward until he has his next surgery.

My son loves his nurses, they are more than just his nurses with how they care for him, and we are very grateful for all they do for us and our family.

Thank you very much for taking the time to feedback about your experience of the care your son received and continues to receive in Clark Clinic at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children recently.

We know that having anyone, but particularly a child, in hospital is very stressful. For you to use comments like, "they became our family" and "Clark Clinic became home" is very high praise indeed and I will make sure that your comments are fed back to the team. I know that it will mean so much to them that they have been able to make your sons time in Clark Clinic a very positive experience.

Thank you once again for your lovely comments.
