"NHS Forth Valley is not Trauma-Informed"

About: Stirling Care Village / Livilands Resource Centre

(as a service user),

I am very unhappy with being assigned a male psychiatrist when I have asked for a female psychriatrist and I clearly had this documented due to Tramua and Abuse reasons. This request should be listened to under your trauma informed practice. This has been totally dismissed. If there are no female psychaitrists at Livilands, get one in for me, or let me go to a different service, you have to adapt and be flexible for trauma patients!

Secondly, I am very unhappy at how the changing psychiatrist policy has been dealt with. Yes, I am aware I have asked to change psychiatrist twice, which is over their policy of asking once - However, the reasons I asked to change were because both said psychiatrists made me feel intimidated.

A patient should be allowed to change as many times as they wish if the said psychiatrist is intimidating them.

I have been told I will no longer be allowed any future changes. I feel I am being punished for the behaviour of psychiatrists, for nothing I have done myself.

This is absolutely another huge let down from NHS Forth Valley/Livilands Resource Centre. I have a serious mental illness, and I deserve good, patient-centered, trauma-informed care.

I will continue to stand up for my rights until I get the care I deserve.

Hi greenth39

Thank you for sharing your story and experience with our Mental Health Service. It is always disappointing to read when our services do not meet the expectations of our patients.

It is concerning to hear that you have felt intimated when meeting with your Psychiatrist and no one should be made to feel this way. To enable us to support and offer guidance and advice to you, we would like to offer you the opportunity to chat with a member of our Mental Health Team, Ruth Murray on 01259 290343 or 01786 446918. Ruth is one of the Team Leaders within the Team and she will be happy to chat with you about your concerns.

I hope this is helpful and wish you well.

Caroline
