I have been undergoing gynaecological investigations which resulted in the need for a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy. I was informed that surgery would be in December and I was given a pre op assessment appointment. I had excellent care from Lianne, the pre op nurse, and she informed me about what to expect and provided me with appropriate pre op preparation.
On the day of my operation I felt extremely anxious and as I am a nurse it was a completely different experience to being a patient. I was greeted at Day Surgery by Arlene, the nursing assistant who reassured me and kept me fully informed of what was happening. The process from this point was excellent and I was treated with dignity and respect at all times.
Dr Barr and her team carried out the operation successfully. Her professionalism and expertise throughout this experience were outstanding, she showed compassion whenever we met and her aftercare was again excellent with good post op instructions and information. The staff in The Day Surgery Unit were incredible providing the best care and attention (Jodi, Arlene,Susan, Ashley, Linda, Catriona and Doreen).
I was moved to B11 on the day after my operation and spent 1 night and 1 day here, again with excellent care and attention. I was discharged home before Christmas and have continued my recovery at home. I have worked in NHS Forth Valley for over 30 years and I have never been prouder to work for this organisation due to the amazing care and treatment I received from start to finish including all the xray/scan appointments and gynaecology appointments through to my operation and hospital stay.
"Amazing care and treatment"
