"Nurse in the discharge room"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Discharge Lounge

(as a service user),

I was discharged from hospital after lunch and needed to wait on my friend to pick me up at 5pm. A porter took me to a discharge room where Nurse Siobhan was looking after the room. I  asked if I could lay my head down on the other half of the sofa while no one needed the other seat. I was warmly told to lie down as long as I wanted. I was happy to just lay my head on my coat when next thing Siobhan appeared with a blanket and pillow for me. She also gave me a bottle of water which was great as I wasn't fit to walk too far to get water over the next 3 hours! It such so kind and unexpected. It really helped me get some much-needed rest. When I woke up after a nap, I enjoyed an interesting chat with Siobhan, she's a lovely person and I hope she continues to enjoy her well-deserved semi-retirement.

Dear E.L.L,

Thank you for taking the time to post these lovely comments about our discharge lounge and service, and particularly your kind words about nurse Siobhan - I will be sure to pass these on to her directly. We have done a lot of work to make this service a positive patient experience and it is wonderful to hear that it is working.

thank you

Colin
