"The teams are worth their weight in gold"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / Radiology

(as the patient),

Late at night I took myself to UHW a&e with my partner due to huge fever, tachycardia, n&s and dizziness and delirium with a bout of blue lips and reap difficulties. Although waiting room wasn’t at capacity you could tell the staff was run off their feet. Triaged within an hr with an ECG and taken to a bay room due to inability to get bloods.

Linda and the triage team that night was fantastic, her rapport, kindness and the ability to have a joke with me despite being so busy was really comforting. I was then seen by the doctor (megan) who was also fantastic and despite the struggle to get bloods was very thorough and they didn’t hesitate to investigate. Ended up seeing a variety of doctors and the medical team (I can’t remember your names sorry) through the early hours of Friday into Friday evening who was all fantastic with me. I ended up with an infection but my odd blood results was also investigated thoroughly.

The teams are worth their weight in gold, even the nurses and students who was always happy to help if I needed anything. It was the first time I’ve ever used a&e and while you can see it is struggling with demand, the staff in a&e and on the radiology wards was truly amazing.
