Anything else?
After an operation in 2010 it was discovered that My wife's cancer was still active and she was referred to a doctor in Weston Park. Sadly Patricia died in Jan 2013 after a brave struggle involving both radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Whilst it couldn't save her life it did buy us a good amount of quality life during which we managed to take holidays abroad both with our grand kids and on our own. She also gallivanted across Spain with her 2 sisters for a couple of weeks. During these holidays she was her usual bouncy self enjoying life to the full. This continued until November 2012 when the cancer became extremely aggressive which resulted in her moving into Rotherham Hospice in Dec 2012. I would like to go on record as stating that without the care she received from Dr Pledge and his team at Weston Park I doubt that she would have lived as long as she did, given the severity of the disease. We almost certainly would not have been able to enjoy our trips abroad. Every time we visited Weston Park for either treatment or a review we were treated with care, respect and humanity. The staff all had genuine smiles on their faces which helped to dispel any fears we may have had. Our questions were answered truthfully and with understanding. In fact the whole journey could not have been handled any better. It started at Rotherham, then onto the Hallamshire for her operation, then into Weston Park. I would like it if all concerned in Patricia's treatment would accept my heartfelt thanks for making her final journey as painless as possible. Whilst in the hospice she knew what was happening and made me promise to pass on her thanks to all concerned. Weston Park and all it's staff are a credit to the health service - long may it continue until there is hopefully no need for it and a simple pill will be discovered which can alleviate the need for all the various treatments currently being used. Finally my thanks are not just for the medical staff. They also go out to the cleaners, the caterers, the receptionists and everyone else connected with Weston Park. Thank you.
