"RAH Fracture Clinic"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Fracture Clinic (orthopaedics)

(as a service user),

I had a consultants appt at RAH Fracture clinic.  It was very busy with waiting area full, corridor chairs all taken and people standing lining the corridor.  I  was aware that there would be some wait, however, didn't expect to wait 2 hrs.

There was no update on waiting times from the HCSWs until people started to complain.  No water cooler was evident within the department, which going forward if one could be installed for patients to re-hydrate, this would help as this clinic routinely runs late.

When I was eventually called, I wasn't seen by the consultant, rather than someone who didn't introduce themselves  (although I did see Mr Ker in the department). My consult took literally 5 min which doesn't seem equitable for a 2hr wait.

Dear serpensxg66,

Thank you for getting in touch to raise your concerns. Firstly, I would like to apologise for the length of time you had to wait to be seen. This is not the service we like to provide to our patients. Our staff are normally very good at intimating when clinics are running behind. I will feed this back to ensure that this is carried out in the future.

Regarding the availability of water, unfortunately we do not have a water cooler for everyone to use. We do however have bottled water available in the dept. This is something that we may need to highlight within the waiting area, should any patients require.

There are 3 doctors who are at Mr Ker's clinic but due to other commitments, Mr Ker is not always available. The doctor you did see should have introduced themself. I would like, if you could get in touch with me so as I can investigate this further. My contact details are linda.blair2@ggc.scot.nhs.uk or tel 0141 314 6789.

I look forward to hearing from you.
