My dad was very unwell and required to be admitted to University Hospital, Ayr. He was admitted into the yellow zone in CAU, where he was looked after by an amazing team of nursing and medical staff. As a family, we were extremely concerned that he wasn't going to survive, but thanks to the amazing care and treatment, dad is now at home and on the long road to his recovery.
Despite the busy ward and the never ending pressures for beds, the staff were absolutely phenomenal! As a registered nurse myself, I am fully aware of the current pressures and strains on the NHS, but I was absolutely blown away by the care that my dad received within that particular unit.
I do want to mention a couple of the nurses in particular who were fabulous: Mandy and Roshene, who looked after my dad so well and gave us thorough updates when we called to see how he was or when we went in to visit. These nurses gave my family peace of mind that he was being cared for and that he really was in the best of hands.
I would like to mention one nurse that I encountered throughout the week of his stay in the yellow zone who gave the most excellent care and attention to all of her patients, including my dad and also to our entire family. The nurse I am referring to is called Natalie and she is one of those treasures that I wish we had more of in the health service. Nothing was any trouble for Natalie and it seemed that she just understood perfectly how to communicate with her patients and how to put both them and their families at ease. I always felt reassured by her updates and by her interactions with my dad and also with her colleagues, I do not have enough words to thank Natalie and each one of her amazing colleagues for ensuring that my family still has my dad with us.
I know that there is a lot of criticism for the health service at the moment, but they were there for my family when we needed them and I just want to say a huge thank you to all who worked so hard to keep him with us and to restore our faith not only in the NHS but in people in general.
Thank you all so much yellow zone, CAU, you are all superstars!
"You are all superstars!"
