Recently my adult son who has autism and a learning disability was referred by his GP for a podiatry assessment having required 2 courses of antibiotics for a problem with his toe. He quickly received an appointmentt date to attend Woodview Assessment Clinic in Gransha Park, which was great as I could tell he was in pain but he doesn't vocalize this.
The appointment letter also included a map and clear, concise instructions with directions on how to get there which was so helpful since we had never been there before. The waiting area at the clinic was quiet, away from the hustle of the busy hospital, which was ideal for my son's needs. My son was called in promptly for his assessment reducing any anxiety caused by a lengthy wait.
The staff dealing with my son were excellent. They took time to explain the problem, the diagnosis and treatment required, so we were fully aware of what was going to happen and over how many appts and expected healing time which was very important to my son. We were also given written information on the treatment required and any aftercare required at home which was very useful to refer to. The staff involved my son at every stage of his care, ensuring he understood what was happening and for this I was very thankful.
The treatment went well, meaning that he did not need any further antibiotics, which was a relief. There was a beautiful view from the assessment couch where my son was and he appreciated it. The clinic is located close to the woods where we were able to go for a short walk as my son loves nature and he looked forward to that . We found the whole experience as worry free as possible and the care given excellent.
"A worry free experience"
