"Cancer awareness"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Today I visited the Orthopaedic department at Wishaw General Hospital. I sat at the back, where there was a section on the wall with information leaflets. The wall was full of breast cancer leaflets and a How Did We Do? leaflet. As a cancer patient, I think it's fantastic that these leaflets are available, but also a bit disappointed that the selection wasn't more diverse.

I myself had endometrial cancer and cervical cancer. I hadn't ever even heard of womb cancer or endometrial cancers before. And I'm not alone. I think it would be beneficial to have a variety of cancer Information leaflets available. There may be women or men there who have symptoms but don't even know, and these leaflets could provide invaluable advice, information and ultimately save lives.

And not just female cancers, but male cancers also like testicular and prostate. I understand it is probably Cancer Research UK who provide your leaflets, but if you ask for a more diverse range, I'm sure they'd provide them for you. Please consider doing this, as it could save a lot of lives. Thanks guys.
