I wanted to express my sincere thanks to the Nursing and Medical teams in AMIA (ward 101) and Ward 104.
I was admitted as an emergency by my GP with a GI bleed and despite being anxious and worried I was left feeling reassured and well cared for.
Despite the enormous pressures on both these wards, the teams were friendly and professional. Nothing was too much trouble.
Both these areas had unrelenting stresses both for beds and resources. I thought the staff coped extremely well however it was upsetting to see the difficult working conditions for them.
I witnessed medical and nursing staff going above and beyond and being absolutely stretched to the limit to ensure their patients were looked after.
I fully support the Nursing staff with their industrial action as these skilled, highly experienced professionals deserve to be paid appropriately. The way that the staff dealt with the stress and strain of their working environment is admirable, but I would question how this level of activity can be maintained.
I just wish the politicians could see the incredible work that the whole team do 24/7 at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Special thanks to Jill, Lesley and Margaret in AMIA and Dr English, Dr Thompson and their medical team, Sister Aileen and all her fantastic nursing team in Ward 104.
