I had an accident involving my car and was admitted to Causeway Hospital where I was given scans and then taken care of in Surgical 2.
I was in over the Christmas period and just want to say that the staff in this ward are a group of angels!
I was bed bound and having been an active independent person to being totally dependent on someone for toileting and washing etc it was hard to accept but I was soon put at ease and nothing was to much trouble.
I was treated with respect and dignity throughout my stay. Everyone on the ward worked together as a team, helping each other out and ensuring all needs were catered for.
The staff were ran off their feet but still kept smiling and caring... whether it be a cup of tea or medication and everything in between they were professional and attentive. It seemed to me that there was too heavy a workload for the one nurse in charge but they still managed to deliver an excellent level of care because that’s the type of people they are.
I think it’s really sad that these people are having to strike for better pay and conditions and sometimes feel undervalued when they are doing their best in a broken system.
I cannot recall all the names of auxiliaries and carers tending to me but I am so grateful to all of them… and to Ann and others who brought us tea and meals. Thanks especially to nurses Naomi, Aoife, Sheree and Mamsi for their care and attention.
"The staff in this ward are a group of angels!"
