"Kindness on a tough day"

My brother had to be brought to hospital in an emergency situation.

I want to thank Joe and Mark (Western Trust area) who spent time talking to him and doing everything possible to look after him and who showed great kindness not only to him, but also to his family. 

Joe even took the time to think about my needs and ensured I had a snack and drink for the wait in the hospital. There aren't words to describe the difference such a small act of humanity made on a really tough day.

I hope this gets back to him, as he made a real impression on me and is a credit to the professionalism and care of NIAS. Thank you for everything you did.

I am gratefully thankful for your thoughtful words in relation to NIAS clinicians handling of your callout, particularly in an emergency situation that can be highly pressured and stressful for everyone involved. Your kind words highlighting the best possible care administered, both taking into account ease brought to your brother, but also highlighting a welfare check to yourself by the clinicians. Being aware of the current climate that NIAS operates within (and all of the other trusts), the pressures that rapidly mount can change the landscape of operations, this further results in significant pressure being put on NIAS and sees operations being outstretched to quite a considerable amount considering the current staffing levels. Ultimately this results in clinicians being ‘burnt-out’ with little or no breaks, and no recuperation being the normality.

However in spite of this, NIAS clinicians continue to try and operate at the same high standard regardless of internal and external factors/pressures; and such has been made relevant by your story shared here on the Care Opinion platform, I would again like to thank you for such thoughtful words as the previously mentioned pressures weigh great strain on the workforce, with such impacting the mental welfare of NIAS staff. Your story will no doubt bring a significant boost to moral and an uplifting element to not only the crew involved, but across the NIAS fleet.
