Firstly, i’d like to state I understand that this is not the fault of the nurses and doctors who work at the infant accident & emergency at Stepping Hill, but those solely responsible for the running of the health service.
The care and service which was provided for my 11 month old daughter was poor. Triage
Nurse which was in such a rush she sprayed oral ibuprofen in my daughters eye, then a doctor which gave several possible illnesses without any clarification or being able to answer any questions. My daughters symptoms worsened during our wait and it took having to go to the main desk twice to get any attention.
8 hours in accident & emergency to leave without a diagnosis and a prescription that listed several items which aren't obtainable due to national shortage. After being told I would not be able to collect the prescription from Stepping Hill, I asked if they knew of an open pharmacist (boxing day) which I was then told to google in.
Ending up in Rusholme, I was told I would not be able to get Penicilin and the hospital would have been aware of this. As I had several other things on the prescription, I handed it in and then collected the other items thinking i’d be able to get in touch with accident & emergency. After ringing accident & emergency 7 times I was told I’d have to come back to Accident & emergency with my daughter to wait 5-7 hours to see a doctor for a prescription.
Meanwhile my daughters health remains the same and I'm awaiting a prescription from 111. Over 24 hours has past.
This experience has completely alienated me. I
do not believe the service available can provide adequate care for anyone. Rooten from the top and I sympathise with the nurses and doctors who are being set up to fail.
"Bad experience from start to finish. "
