"outpatient appt"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I had an outpatient appointment to see an orthopaedic doctor. I felt that they were very ignorant, did not introduce themsleves so I dont know their name, barely looked up, made almost no eye contact with me, made some very snotty remarks, one being, after I said I was struggling to do my work, they just shook their head, tutted, and said, maybe I should consider a career change, I am mid 60ies, doubt there is a queue of companies racing to employ a cripple, I really felt they were just horrible to me. They showed no empathy, despite the fact because of my bad hip I had fallen and my arm was broken both bones and set in plaster at lincoln hospital in october

I came out of there shaking, crying, my friend who had driven me there took me for a coffee to calm down.

sadly I have found that consultants often think they are a superior and this one wasn't the first one to be rude to me, I have a few horrible conditions, so being treated kindly would be a bonus,

I dont think its too much to ask to be spoken to like a human being

Dear suwyn

Thank you for posting your comments to Care Opinion. I am disappointed to see you have not had a good experience from the Orthopaedic Service. These are not the values and behaviours we uphold in the Trust. In order to be able to address this with the appropriate doctor I would appreciate if you could contact the PALS Department to give specific details into the doctor you saw and the day you were seen please.

Thanks

Sara
