"Help from Paramedics: Up and Beyond call of duty"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

One evening last week, my wife took a massive seizure ( related to brain tumour), turned blue and I had to phone 999. The ambulance arrived very quickly and gave fabulous care. This feedback is for the two paramedics follow on care and I’d be grateful if they could be acknowledged for this. We had to wait 3.5hrs outside A&E, the paramedics talked to us throughout this time, made us laugh and went and made us tea, offered to get me food, and took my wife for toilet breaks when needed. They talked to A&E staff about my wife’s  complex condition and made sure I was allowed to stay with her when in A&E as she was distressed. They also got us priority access to A&E.

They hadn’t had a break throughout their 12 hour shift but never complained, they just made sure we were ok and also myself as I was very shaken up. They kept explaining everything that was happening and my wife’s monitor readings. When in A&E they hooked my wife up to monitors as it was so busy, they wanted to make sure things would move quickly. They even came back to check on us the next day in the ward at the QEUH Glasgow.

The paramedics name was Amy, but didn’t catch her colleagues name. They attended in Glasgow South Side and took us to QEUH Glasgow. Please pass on our gratitude for their care and compassion that night. Thank you.
