I felt really ill and arrived at A&E. This was the second time visiting A&E. The department was very busy, but staff are very polite and helpful. I was triaged really quickly. I had bloods done and got reviewed by a doctor. I was awaiting admission to a bed. I was seated and I was provided with fluids and antibiotics to start my treatment. I was reviewed by three doctors whilst in A&E. I had a chest X-ray to check my chest and lungs. I was then admitted to a bed in A&E, awaiting admission to a bed in the ward. I was given food. I later was on a bed in A&E and I was referred for a cat scan. This occurred whilst in an A&E bed. I must say, the portering staff are first class. All departments visited had helpful and supportive staff.
I ended up on 5B Ward. I was in a corridor bed next to the nurse's station. Staff in 5B, Dr Agnew Consultant and his team, were very helpful and very professional. I was thankful for the timely treatment and intervention. It was a very busy and dynamic ward. I then the following day was transferred to Ward 6A due to my clinical presentation. I was on 6A when I met Mr Gray and the wider MDT.
I can only say that everything about the Ulster was fantastic whilst I was under your care. Please keep up the excellent work. All staff on the ward providing food , fluids and the wonderful nurses and practitioners deliver great care. I was struck by the many different roles and the diverse backgrounds and skills of the wider team.
I am pleased to remain under the Ulster Hospital's expertise as both an outpatient and possibly an inpatient for surgery in 2023. I felt I was in the right place at the right time, and thanks to the expertise of clinicians the acute presentation was expertly managed .
