"Great care"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department University Hospital Hairmyres / General Surgery (Ward 5) University Hospital Hairmyres / Surgical Receiving Unit (Ward 4) University Hospital Hairmyres / Trauma & Orthopaedics (Wards 1 & 5)

(as a relative),

My dad was admitted to Hairmyres hospital with Pancreatitis (we didn't know this at the time).

He had a lengthy wait in the Emergency department before being triaged due to the volume of patients waiting to be seen.

The staff triage my dad and quickly realised how sick he was. They moved him to resus were he received great care. Team came to a quick diagnosis and started him on treatment plan to make him feel better.

His moved to ward 1, on monitor, oxygen and different infusions. The nursing staff were very attentive and showed great compassion trying to ease my dad's pains.

When he was more stable he was then moved to ward 4 and then ward 5. Both wards have great staff and once again they took great care of my dad.

Everyone's care was greatly appreciated. My family and I thank you all so much.

With so much bad press it's easy to forget that the work the NHS do is nothing short of amazing. The nursing staff deserve so much more support from the community and government.

Once again thank you all!

Dear Claire12

Thank you for taking the time to post your valuable feedback to us. It is much appreciated.

I'm delighted to read that your dad was well looked after and received great care.

I do however apologise for his wait to be triaged in our Emergency Department. We are encountering challenging times where we find our patients having lengthy waits in the ED and we are working extremely hard to keep them safe and ensure they are reviewed as quickly as possible.

It sounds like it's been a difficult and anxious time for your dad and your family. I'm glad to hear that he was stepped down from critical care to the ward area and hopefully now making a good recovery.

I hope you have a lovely time over the festive season

Kind Regards

Carol
