"Top notch maternity care"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Obstetrics (Maternity care)

(as a service user),

I gave birth at Aberdeen Labour Ward recently & I couldn’t not leave a message about my Experience. First of all a massive well done and thank you to Nicola in Triage, what a star she is! Her banter and kindness definitely helps you keep going 🌟 I was then taken through to labour ward and again top notch care, Sophie made my experience! She was so kind, so informative and so proactive!! She made me feel at ease when things weren’t “going to plan” Callum the anaesthetist was another star and was very calm and informative. Lori the doctor 👩‍⚕️ & the theatre staff were top notch and made me feel at ease whilst being in theatre. I seriously can’t thank the above people enough. My experience was as calm as possible and that’s down to the amazing staff.

The majority of my experience in Ashgrove ward was positive and the staff there do a great job. Unfortunately one member of staff let them down majorly. I won’t mention names but seriously if you don’t love what you do then maybe look for something else as you have chose to work in a ward with newborns & emotional new mothers!

Back to the good part - Nicola, Sophie, Calum & Lori - it is clear you love what you do and your good at it 🥇🌟

Dear pegasusbr66,

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch and wow what a positive experience you have had. It is really fantastic to know that the majority of the care you received was just what you needed and delivered with kindness and compassion and a little bit of humour to keep you going.

It is really unfortunate that one staff member in Ashgrove clouded this for you and if you are willing please email gram.womensservices@nhs.scot to let me know who this was. This is not to get them into trouble but to offer them some support, so when they are providing care they can do it with the same kindness and compassion that you were shown from others.

Thanks again for getting in touch and may I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Kind Regards

Liz
