"Heroes without capes"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

At the weekend I had a stay in a&e. The level of care was outstanding. It was clear to see that the staff were "fighting fires" in all directions yet their hard work and commitment shone through.

The receptionists endured abusive patients with a patient manner that helped diffuse various situations.

The nurses were thorough and very professional. Even when it was so busy they continued to work hard juggling many plates. A particular thanks to the Pod A teams

A very special mention to Dr Parker. Your genuine bedside manner, your determination to make me better, your care and above all your kindness will stay with me forever. You are who every doctor (and everyone!) should aspire to be. Thanks doesn't quite cover it.

We see on the news how busy our a&e departments are and I saw this firsthand. They deserve every bit of support and funding. These staff members are indeed heroes without capes but they're also qualified professionals who need and deserve not only a large pay rise but more resources and support. They have my full backing.

I am truly grateful. Thank you.
