"Gall bladder surgery"

About: Victoria Hospital / Day surgery Victoria Hospital / Surgical High Dependency

(as a service user),

I had gall bladder surgery - all seemed to go well and I woke up in a ward.  The nursing staff were caring as I requested help to use the toilet/commode and collapsed on the floor (blood pressure plummeted).  My drain bag was pretty full and I bled quite considerably.

I was taken back to theatre where a large clot was removed and oozing presumably cauterised.  I woke up in Surgical High Dependency where I stayed for 2 days then was transferred to a normal ward. The care within high dependency was second to none.  No follow up was given and the couple of stitches which didn't dissolve were removed by a nurse at GP surgery.

Dear JeanieJo

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, it is lovely to hear from you. I am sorry to hear that you have been unwell and required critical care. It is good to note that you did receive good care on our Surgical High Dependency Unit, I will make sure I pass this on with my team, they will be delighted. I do hope your recovery is going well, sorry to hear that you did experience some difficulties post discharge without suitable follow up being arranged. If you wish to discuss this further, please can you send me an email, Jamie.Doyle@nhs.scot so that I can review this further with the appropriate team.

Wishing you well and hope your recovery continues to go well.

Best wishes, Jamie Doyle, Surgical High Dependency Unit.
