We attended with our daughter who has non verbal autism. I can not remember the name of the doctor on that night, but he had red hair. Children's A&E Craigavon Area Hospital. The doctor was absolutely brilliant as was the nurse that dealt with our daughter.
Often we run into a lot of trouble with medical staff not fully understanding our daughter or not even taking the time with her resulting in her having a shut down and becoming extremely distressed. The patience this doctor showed our daughter was outstanding. The gentleman took his time and took time to chat with her also. Our daughter remained very calm and relaxed with this doctor. He was very thorough in his examination and provided us with a-lot of reassurance and was non-judgmental. (Which I find a lot of doctors are when you present to A&E) the doctor that saw our daughter is a credit to himself for his pleasant mannerism and professional conduct and is a huge credit to the NHS.
I wish more Doctors had his attitude and dedication to the job as well as the understanding of Autism and Non-verbal Communication. Credit where credit is due for this gentleman.
Thank you for your care and attention to our daughter and thank you for also seeing her as an individual and continuing to interact with her regardless of her disabilities.
