"Broken thumb child"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) St John's Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a service user),

Once we navigated the system of GP , 111 , NHS Lothian flow centre, on behalf of our child, we received an appointment time to attend minor injuries at St John’s later in the day - our closest centre to home.

A challenge to find a parking space but we were seen on time by pleasant, friendly staff. In and out within an hour, diagnosis, X-rays, treatment plan and onward referral all sorted.

Excellent service.

Dear herculesng66 many thanks for your kind words re your experience whilst attending the minor injuries unit at STJ today when your child injured their thumb. I will make sure the staff are aware of your very positive comments. I hope your child makes a good recovery from their injury and it does not stop them enjoying Santa coming soon.

Hi Herculesng66

Thanks for sharing your positive experience on Care Opinion. I was sorry to learn your child had to attend at the Minor Injuries Unit at St John's. I hope things are improving.

I see you mention contact with NHS 24 on 111. If you care to share any further detail in relation to your experience of calling 111, it would be good to hear from you. We always like to share such feedback with the staff who manage calls to our service. You can contact me on 07814 299944 or email at Patient.Experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

It sounds as though, upon arrival at St John's, care was seamless with a treatment plan in place. Fantastic service from our colleagues in St John's! I'm sure they'll be delighted to see your feedback.

Thanks again and best wishes to you all for a happy healthy festive season and New Year.

Shona
