"Positive experience in Accident & Emergency"

About: Gilbert Bain Hospital / Accident & emergency

(as a carer),

Following advice from NHS 24 my husband had to attend A&E at the Gilbert Bain Hospital, Lerwick.

We received a call from SSN Irvine about attending. During the call she advised that although A&E knew he would be attending that, they could not guarantee he would be seen on arrival. My husband accepted this and we travelled to the Hospital, he knew that he may have a reasonable time to wait and was fully prepared for this because of the call from SSN Irvine.

Within 5 minutes of arrival his details were taken, observations recorded and advised that the Dr would see him shortly. SN Stemp and Stemsek were professional, informative and friendly, providing all the information that was required alleviating any angst that my husband was feeling due to his visit.

Dr Dean examined and reviewed him shortly after and a diagnosis was confirmed, treatment  prescribed and discharged.

The whole experience from start to finish ( including advice on the telephone later that afternoon) was extremely positive.

My husband and I would like to thank all the staff involved in his care during this minor episode of ill health.

Thank you very much for taking the time to give this positive feedback. I have passed it on to the team. It makes a big difference to the staff to know that they are doing a fantastic job and it is valued. I hope you both have a very healthy festive period.
