"Charge nurse's attitude"

About: Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I had my hip replacement surgery at the end of November and was then admitted to Ward 2 West.  All was going really well till Sunday at approx 12:30.  I was in bed as the physio had asked me to get into bed to go over my exercises again.  After the physio left at approx 11:30 I buzzed for pain relief and was still waiting for this at 12:20.  At that point my lunch was brought in I got myself positioned to enjoy my lunch.

A charge nurse then came in with what seemed to me a very angry voice, telling me to get out of bed, that I was not eating my lunch in there and to get onto a chair. I  tried to explain I was sore and waiting on pain relief for an hour only for them to take the soup spoon from me and move my table over to the window, which meant I either refuse my lunch or struggle up, which I did.

I am in my early sixties and have never been spoken to like that, especially when my emotions were all over the place.  They had a terrible attitude  which upset me to the point I was crying. I asked for their name from a couple of nurses but they didn't want to get involved. When another nurse came in to take my blood pressure it was high. Obviously they were concerned and wanted to ask the said nurse to come back but I said no I don't want them to come through my door.

I have been in this hospital twice and have nothing but praise for it but I feel this charge nurse should be stripped of their title or asked to leave as they are not jubilee material.

A very sad day
