I am currently a patient on your maternity ward. I was booked in to start a induction at the start of December. Little did I know what was ahead.
I am a high risk patient having gestational diabetes and have been monitored very well all the way to this point. I got told it was priority I had my baby early due to the size and extra water surrounding my baby.
I have now been in for 4 days and the care has been so poor. I am being left alone for 8 hours at a time, shut in a room alone. No one is checking on my blood sugar levels at all. I had high ketones when I was admitted, this hasn't been checked since. There is little if no communication between the midwives and myself. I am getting irritated and distressed hour by hour and no-one seems to even know I'm here. I have a young son at home I'm being kept from unfairly.
I just can't get in my head why they would admit me for induction yet to me they didn't seem to have staff to deal with me. That was an initial 24 hours totally wasted.
I feel I would be a lot better off and much more active if I was at home than sat rocking in an empty side room. I really feel your procedures looking at.
