"Care in Ward 12, Monklands University Hospital"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Acute Medical Receiving Unit University Hospital Monklands / Emergency Department University Hospital Monklands / Medical Diabetes and Endocrinology (Ward 12)

(as a service user),

I was admitted with diabetic keto acidosis, after being kept in A&E for 15 hours. I understood, as the waiting room was the fullest I've ever seen it. People sitting on the floor.

I was taken to AMRU, which was disorganised, and met a horrible person working there.

Then transferred to Ward 12.

In this ward I met some fantastic nurses. The ward ran very proficiently. Medicine given at right times and the care I got was phenomenal.  First Angela, a staff nurse, was fantastic and showed compassion and great care to myself and other patients in the ward.

There was Cheryl and Jackie, Liz and Geraldine working night shift.

On the day shift ward, Angela, Jenny, Anna, Nicole and the AMP nurse the fabulous Frankie, who was helping me after my DKA.

This team of nurses showed me a lot of care, compassion and help.

One last reminder - thanks to Kirsty for getting out of a hypo and making me feel much better. She also explained what would now happen.
