"District Nurses Wishaw"

About: Wishaw Locality Support Service / Community Nursing Team

(as a relative),

My mum has rapid dementia. At this moment she has sores on her heels, ankle bones and sacral area. The district nurses never have the proper dressings, which resulted in the skin being ripped from my mum's heel.

When they do go to their car for dressings, they are too small for the areas. The past two visits they have asked if her daughters have any dressings they can use, we are spending over £80 a week buying our own dressings as they are not done correctly so we have to re-do them.

There’s no care plan in place, no supply of dressings and absolutely no care! Today is the final straw. They came in without dressings, asked if we had any, then because my dad said no, they just left without doing anything! Shocking patient care, tissue viability should have been involved and a mattress of some sort to avoid the sores! No care whatsoever.

Hi Cmd46

I am so sorry to hear that this has been your experience and your mum's, this is not the standard we would expect of our District Nursing service. Could I ask that you contact the team leader Siobhan Patterson 07920 271242 as a matter of urgency and she can investigate these concerns and ensure this has resolved as soon as possible
