"Help for a new orthopaedic mattress"

About: Cumbernauld Locality Support Service / Social work services

(as the patient),

I've been in a hospital bed in my living room for many years and the mattress is not good. My doctor has made 3 referrals to the adaptions team for a replacement and I still have not had one. They ask me if I don't have the funds myself and I don't want a new bed just a new mattress. I have multiple conditions and they say I have to keep moving or my muscles will waste away. I do try to walk the 3 feet to the door and back but its so difficult.

I contacted the service and they send out a male member of staff. They used to come in couples and I find it very uncomfortable being alone with a male if my husband & daughter are not there.

They offered me an inflatable mattress which I thought would inflate itself but they informed me I would have to do it manually which I would not be able to do.

I need help, its so upsetting I am in pain and need help.
