My gran passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the start of December in Ward 6, Ninewells Hospital Dundee.
My gran was admitted to Ward 6 at the end of November. From the minute she arrived the staff were caring and took the time to get to know my gran and her needs. Her condition deteriorated quickly and Dr Gillespie explained what was going on very thoroughly and in a way that non medics would understand. He took the time to answer many questions and he could see how much my gran meant to her family.
When the decision was made to treat my gran palliatively all the staff on the ward couldn’t be more supportive and constantly checking in on us even thought it was clear to see how busy the ward was.
Our family took it in turns to be with my gran as she didn’t want to be alone and the staff couldn’t be more accommodating.
Words can not explain how supportive these staff were and it was so comforting to know they were looking after my gran. Nurses and healthcare staff on this ward are one in a million and I can’t thank them enough for how they cared for my gran and our family the past few days.
