"Maternity services SWAH"

About: South West Acute Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

The midwifes and health care assistants in South West Acute Hospital were brilliant at caring for me throughout my pregnancy and delivery and postpartum. I needed to be induced. Rachel from MAU was very good at her job and very reassuring. The midwifes on maternity postnatal ward very caring and the labour sisters were very good at observing me when needed. Labour was long but my midwifes kept me calm and made me comfortable the best that they could and kept me up to date with care.  I needed a c-section in the end as I was a failure to progress. This can be frightening but felt relieved when I knew services were available such as neonatal unit open if needed, availability to have a c-section at the hospital without delay.  I definitely recommend anyone to attend SWAH maternity I hope to see the services thrive as it is much needed for the community and does not get enough praise that they deserve. If these services were not available this may be a different review. Special thank you to Cora and Andrea who gave outstanding care during my labour experience.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby.

We greatly appreciate you taking the time out to comment on the care you have received during your pregnancy and it is great to hear that you felt well supported and had a positive experience, especially when your plan of care changed.

I will pass on your comments to the wider maternity team, who will be delighted to hear that the care they provide has been so well received.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Ali Ferguson

Many congratulations on the birth of your baby. I am absolutely delighted to receive such amazing feedback as I know the staff are all very committed to delivering the best care that they can. It is so encouraging to see that it is received as it has been intended. It is so kind of you to take time out of what am sure is a busy home life right now to provide this feedback. Thank you so much. We in SWAH will continue to provide maternity services and hope that many more women find their experiences as positive as you have. I hope you and family have a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year.

Kind Regards

Brenda McCabe

Lead Midwife of Maternity SWAH/OHPCC Hospitals and surrounding Community Areas.
