"Disconnected care"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / Cardiology

(as the patient),

There have been three drug errors in the two years I have been under Dumfries cardiology, I see different consultant's almost as frequently as the season's change with no continuity between them. There is no follow up of test results or decisions to refer for treatment. When I complained, the reply is still outstanding. When I asked for my care to be transferred I was promised a call from the managers. The following day, still waiting. I dont believe anyone cares that I have been harmed by the mistakes, I dont believe anyone cares to treat me as an individual and to do as they say. Where are the management?

Dear cafecw54,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I am sorry that you have found your experience under our care at DGRI to be unsatisfactory. I understand that you have some concerns around your care and seem to be frustrated with what you describe as a lack of communication. I would urge you to reach out to our Patient Experience Team who will be able to discuss your concerns and assist you in any way that they can. Please contact the team at dg.dgpatientexperience@nhs.scot to discuss this further and to allow us to help you to resolve the issues that you are having.

I would like to provide you with some assurance that we value our patients' opinions, and would like to thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

Kind regards

Alexis

Thank you for your reply, however, patient experience are well aware of my complaint and have done nothing, when I spoke to the cardiology clinical lead 8 days ago she promised I would hear from management the following day...still no response. The response to my written complaint remains overdue. In my opinion the cardiology department is dysfunctional and it feels like management don't care - as is shown by the fact that it has taken you so long to even reply to this. I will be going to the ombudsman

I'm still waiting for a response from my written complaint (sent on 25 October) and the promised phone call from 'management' (19 days late). It feels like no one cares.
