"Long wait for appointment"

My friend saw the GP 6 weeks ago for an episode of post menopausal bleeding, pelvic pain, altered bowel habits and extreme tiredness. 

She was told referral would be made under urgent pathway.

She hadn’t heard anything after 4 weeks and after contacting GP again was told that the referral had now been done. At this time she told GP that her symptoms had become worse, there had been further bleeding and the pain had increased.

She found out today after phoning gynaecology waiting list that there is a backlog and it can take 16 weeks to be seen. 

This is totally unacceptable. My friend  continues to bleed, her pain, bloating, tiredness and the bowel symptoms are becoming worse.
