After stopping to help a gentleman who had fallen and sustained numerous lacerations, I took him to the ED Dept at the Ulster Hospital. Upon arrival it was obvious that area was under extreme pressure, as the waiting area was extremely crowded and there was standing room only. A member of staff on door duty was very helpful and assisted me to get the patient indoors, after finding a wheelchair for his use. I then gave the sparse details I knew to the receptionist. She immediately thanked me for bringing the man to ED, and after seeing that he was bleeding profusely, she came out and pushed him straight into triage, without having to queue. She then came back to keep me informed of developments and notified me when relatives arrived, as I had some belongings to hand over to them.
Her person centred response was outstanding, and I would just like to congratulate her on the level of professionalism demonstrated, especially during such a busy period.
I hope that this is shared and that she will be able to identify herself from these details and appreciate that her positive impact is greatly appreciated.
