I gave birth recently by c-section to a premature baby who had to go straight to intensive care. I had severe PTSD from a previous traumatic birth and my stay at the hospital was the most scary, sad and lonely position I have ever been in. I was absolutely terrified and an emotional wreck.
Due to a combination mental and physical health problems, I know I was a complex patient however, there were some individuals who really shone through and helped me more than they will ever know. 2 midwives Rachel and Nic were so understanding and patient with me. I really don't know how I would've got through to discharge without them. They listened to my fears without judgement and are role models as healthcare professionals. Tracey, the hcsw, who clocked up her steps taking me back and forward to NICU always with a smile and a friendly and caring word to say. The 2 girls who cleaned the ward all day and were so friendly and upbeat. Donna, who did so much for me during the day and seemed so busy but still nothing was a problem if I asked her for something. And of course the kitchen staff who were fantastic with my dietary requirements and never ending hunger.
Thank you so much to you all. I really will never forget how kind you all were. You made a massive difference and I truly mean that.
