"I'm not sure they realise how much they really helped me"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / General medicine

(as the patient),

After becoming unwell I was admitted to St Mawes ward bay D5 I feel I was treated with dignity and respect. There were 4 members of staff that made a huge positive help on my stay they were HCA Abbie, HCA Donna, Nurse Lianne and Nurse Aki, these 4 people were amazing and helped me get through some really tough times and I'm not sure they realise how much they really helped me and how much I appreciate them. Unfortunately none of them were there on my day of discharge but I would love for them to know how I appreciate everything they did for me.

If I were to find myself in hospital again I would feel safe in these nurses hands. One specific day I was suffering my first ever panic attack and didn't know what was happening but Abbie and Lianne together got me through it and stayed with me until I was comfortable. I am so thankful to them. I had a number of falls also and Abbie escorted me to the loo due to my falls I was not safe to be left alone and dealt with absolute respect and dignity. For someone so young, Abbie does her job so so well, I think she is amazing . Overall the staff work like Trojans and don't get the praise they deserve I hope this message gets passed onto the named members of staff Thank you Abbie, Lianne, Donna and Aki.

Dear castorhm83

Firstly, please accept my apologies for the delay in getting back to you on here. Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us.

I am so pleased to see that, during your time on St Mawes ward, you were treated with such respect and dignity and that the members of staff helped you through some tough times including experiencing your first panic attack, which must have been quite a scary time. I am glad that they made you feel safe during this.

I am also delighted to see that they supported you throughout your stay, accompanying you after your falls and continued to care for you with respect and dignity.

I am writing to you as a member of the Patient Experience team but I will ensure your kind wards are forwarded on to the appropriate team with a special mention to Abbie, Lianne, Donna and Aki through our Learning from Excellence scheme.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to share your story with us.

Best Wishes

Megan
