"Biopsy at the breast clinic"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Breast Services

(as the patient),

I had to go in for a biopsy in ARI, I do not like needles and past experience of being seen by male doctors for female problems had left me not wanting to be seen by another male doctor.

I explained this to the nurse who was so kind to me, she spoke to the doctor, who was male. He came in and proceeded to do his job as well as trying to make me relax and feel heard.

I was so wound up that I forgot their names, but I would like to thank them both for being so good to me and to let them know that I didn't have any pain afterwards nor bruising. They were both amazing.

Hello JJJJ72

Thank you for taking the time to post your comment about your experience in the breast clinic. I can understand your apprehension about coming to the hospital for a biopsy, particularly as you do not like needles and previous experience of seeing male doctors for female problems. I am delighted that both the nurse and doctor made you feel relaxed and heard.

Feedback helps us to understand what matters to patients. Kindness of staff, listening and a good attitude are key elements of the person-centred care we strive to deliver and it is uplifting to hear that this is how you felt.

I will pass your comments on to the team, which I know they will be delighted to hear.

Thank you again and best wishes.

Sarah
