"Staff are five star"

About: Trauma & Orthopaedics / Ward 23

(as a relative),

My dad fell and broke his hip, and we were eventually moved to Ward 23. The girls and guys up there dealing with my daddy are absolutely amazing. So understanding of the extreme pain he is in, and due to a severe chest infection and copd we are still waiting on the hip operation 6 days on.

The deputy sister, nurses, auxiliaries, cleaners, the guys that do tea and dinners etc, have been so kind to my father and myself as I am up with him nearly all day every day. Nothing is ever too much trouble. They are always in checking his pain levels and contacting the doctors when they see that the medication that is been given is not strong enough.

They have been great at keeping me informed every step of the way. I am so grateful to have come across some seriously dedicated staff. Who do not get enough recognition for their work. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your hard work.

P.S. - I hope my dad gets his operation this week and that these guys are the ones to nurse him back to health after it. It has been a long week waiting.

Hello,

my name is Celina and I'm the ward manager in ward 23.

Thank you for this lovely letter about your experience felt by your father and yourself whilst he was in ward 23. it was a very long and difficult time your father had whilst being prepared for surgery, it's very difficult with having to undergo surgery without any complications to also deal with. I will pass on your lovely comment to the team and those who help us also from support services team and our multidisciplinary teams.

We are all wishing your father a speedy recovery at home and wishing you both a merry Christmas.

Celina
