"Delay for discharge waiting to see Diabetes Specialist Nurse"

About: Royal Preston Hospital / Diabetic medicine

(as the patient),

Does it take 24 hours for a Diabetes Specialist Nurse to discharge a patient admitted into the Medical Assessment Unit? Patient still in Ward and non the wiser when she is to be visited. Very disappointed to hear that the Diabetes Specialist Nurses are too busy given the demands on bed space.

Thank you for providing feedback about the care and treatment we provide. Your comments have been noted and will be reviewed to identify opportunities for improvement and any actions that may be necessary. We appreciate that it is frustrating when discharge is postponed due to delays in further treatment or diagnostics, but it is important that patients receive all the procedures and have the discussions they need before going home to make sure their care is comprehensive and effective. If you would like to provide further details, or would like a personal response, please email customer.care@lthtr.nhs.uk, or you can speak with our PALS team on 01772 522972.
