I recently had a total hip replacement at Halton Treatment Centre and found the care I received faultless, from the moment I arrived I was treated with dignity and respect. I was very nervous about having the spinal injection as previously with a knee replacement they tried to do the spinal procedure for 30 mins and I asked to be put to sleep. The consultant anaesthetist came to see me and explained the procedure and reassured me that he would try the spinal injection but would not allow me to become too distressed, I then met the nurse who would remain with me through the operation and she also put me at ease. She explained what the theatre room would be like before I was taken in there. To my relief the spinal injection was done in no time and I was put to sleep, it was my choice not to be aware of the operation. My surgeon was excellent. The care I received following the operation again was very good, from nursing sisters to the cleaners all were very pleasant and caring. This appears to be a very well run centre and I would highly recommend the centre. Thank you. The only complaint I would make is the length of time I had to wait for my surgery and the different excuses I was given when phoning the waiting list team. I appreciate that waiting times are getting longer for orthopaedic surgery but initially I was told the waiting time was up to 12 weeks then 18 weeks. Once I passed the 18weeks waiting time I was then told I was on the long wait list.
