I have had two treatments in the New Victoria - in March 2013 and again at the end of May 2013.
On each occasion I had a cataract extracted and a new lens implanted. Since I had something like 140 road miles from the hospital on each occasion, I had an overnight stay in ward 3.
The medical staff were excellent. Their assessments, explanations and the surgery itself could not have been any better. It goes without saying that the theatre staff provided excellent back ups. The ward staff in ward 3, both nursing and domestic, were kind, attentive and highly professional on each occasion.
Everything, from the staff to the appointment system worked smoothly, and in my view provided a perfect service - a credit to all concerned.
I could only suggest one improvement - the nurses taking me around from theatre to ward 3 found it hard to negotiate a series of heavy double doors pushing me in a wheelchair. They did well, but things could have been made easier for them if the doors could open and close automatically. Could this modification be considered?
Thanks again for an excellent service.
