"Nothing was to much trouble"

About: Rotherham Hospital / Accident and emergency Rotherham Hospital / Maternity care

(as a relative),

Wife admitted via a&e after breaking her ankle in 3 places after an accident at home.

I cannot say I would do anything better at all with regard to Rotherham General, in particular ward B3! That team are AMAZING!!! Jill Roberts and her team are the most caring and professional bunch of people I have EVER met.

My wife and I had our second child, eight and a half weeks ago and she is breastfeeding. As a result of her stay with you and the surgery, there were lots of complications around feeding, expressing milk and even just general daily care of our son (like changing his nappy, which up until Sunday night was a simple thing!). Absolutely NOTHING has been too much trouble.

I was offered to be able to stay on Monday and Tuesday night to help with things (which I took up the offer of) and I can honestly say the service has been second to none; I have stayed in hotels that have struggled to get the level of hospitality and kindness shown to date!

There are so many people to thank, I cant name them, but they ALL deserve a huge medal. My wife is still there now and will be a while longer, but please pass on our gratitude to Jill and her team as soon as you can, please.

My only minor feedback point (and I think it may be beyond control of the hospital as such too?) is the ridiculously expensive car parking charges and the lack of adequate spaces too. If that was addressed to be more realistic, I, and I think thousands more would be over the moon. It is bad enough to have occasion to need to go to hospital, whether it be visiting or as a result of a personal need, to also be stung for parking!

Dear MT0406, thank you for your posting on Patient Opinion, we really appreciate your feedback. It is great to hear that you have had such a positive experience and that both you and your wife are happy with the level of service you have received and that you feel that you have been treated with hospitality and kindness. Your kind comments will be passed on to the staff concerned.

Thank you also for your feedback on the car parking charges and spaces, this also will be fed back to the relevant department. The Trust recently introduced a new tariff (on 1st May 2013) in order to ensure that income levels meet the expenditure of providing car parking facilities. This, in turn, results in funds allocated for patient care not being spent on maintaining car park facilities and therefore maximises the amount of funds that can be spent on patient care at the Trust. This includes the removal of the 30 minutes free parking which is in line with many other neighbouring Trusts.

Thank you again, with best wishes

Kerry
